Growing up

Growing up, I lived in a poor area of a small town called Tarare. Our community was -- poor in money but rich in diversity. Living in this community taught me to respect, understand and celebrate the different cultures, perspectives and values of my neighbours and friends. To me it is what make us human.
Growing up, sports kept me out of trouble. While some of my friends walked on the wrong side of the law, I was on court learning self discipline, responsibility, resilience... My mum would often let my younger brother and I out of the house to play with our friends: football, basketball, handball, BMX racing... we did them all. With every game we played my love for sport grew: not only was I being active but I was also discovering how my body moved and behaved, how my mind could push further and further my personal limits. Sport gave me many friends: some of them were excellent at football and not so good at the other sports, others were good at all of them and some where not good at any of them; but we always had a lot of fun. It didn't matter to us how good or bad you were because even the player who was always picked last was respected: he had the same rights to play, have fun and win or lose.

From the age of 14, I coached volleyball. Coaching as always been a passion since. I am qualified in coaching various sports (volleyball, basketball, handball, hockey... ant tennis).

Playing tennis

I started playing tennis when I was 18 after watching Roland Garros. My friend Cedric and I bought a cheap racket and went to the local tennis courts. We spent hours on court and after a couple of months, some members noticed us and invited us to join the club. Soon I was competing in the leagues and in individual competitions. I wasn’t too bad at it and I loved competing. I played for 2 years before life and work stopped me.

Tennis came back in my life after moving to England. In 2005, I joined Papworth Everard LTC as I lived only 100 yards away. A few years later in 2010, I finally had my first ever tennis lesson. It was nice being the one being taught rather than the one teaching.

Busy with coaching and life, I did not compete nor push myself from 2010 to 2019. In 2019 I decided to change a few things in my life and playing tennis competitively become one of my goals. I found the best coach possible (Louis Cayer) and decided to start competing again. Since, I have competed in the my first ITF competition, made the O45 County team and have a few more goals to reach.

What we are building is different

10is Academy exists today because we want you and  and you and your child(ren) to see the world through someone else’s eyes and by doing so, create a world where differences are celebrated. A world where you feel safe, taken care of, and belong.

At 10is Academy we believe in the power of sport, in particular tennis,  and the positive impact it can have.

What we are building is different. Our Academy is not driven by trophies or awards, but rather your desire to keep on learning and be the best you can be. Trophies and Awards are a consequence of your hardwork, your resilience, your desire to always do the right thing especially when nobody is watching.

The 10is Academy you know and love comes without judgement on how good or bad you are, we are not driven by public likes or looking over our shoulder to see what others do - 10is Academy is a space that is free of judgment -- to experiment, to explore, to reflect, to be bold, to dare, to be you.

Our tennis lessons are a place for self-expression but also a community where everyone should feel safe. Our community is based on respect and understanding, while also celebrating the different cultures, perspectives and value that make us human.
